Family Information: My Grandmother is the backbone of my family. She moved from Jamaica with my Pops, Uncle, and Aunt in search of a better life for her and her children. My Pop is a retired Marine and my Mother is an RN. I have two sisters, Nicole and Ashley.
Q: What lyrics/song/ artist had the most affect on your life?
A: Ummm, there are so many, I wouldn’t know where to start. Nas’s “If I Ruled the World” definitely had a major impact on me. It was about empowerment and dreaming beyond the impossible.
Q: When did you decide that music was the profession you wanted to pursue?
A: I was always around Hip-Hop and R&B even more due to my parents. My Pop was a DJ at one point and my mother was addicted to Video Soul which aired on BET. I’m gonna keep it real. When I first seen Kris Kross destroy the Apollo stage (laughs). I was looking at these dudes like damn they my age and got grown men wearing their pants backwards. I always wanted to one day make good music, but at the same time have a major influence on whoever heard my voice.
Q: Is there a personality trait that drives or impedes your success? If so what is it and why?
A: I’d probably say it’s a mixture of being stubborn and determined. You gotta tell me no at least three times before I give up, or reword the question in an effort to get you to say yes (laughs).
Q: What event in your life most shapes your personality today?
A: I’m not really sure how to answer that. I definitely have more of my mother’s traits than my father’s. She’s very reserved, observant, and hilarious on the low.
Q: What was the turning point in your life when you decided a regular 9 to 5 wasn't for you?
A: Music just began to consume my thoughts way too much and it’s become my passion, a dream that I’m almost willing to die for. I believe in it that much…
Q: What type of impact on the music world do you hope to make?
A: I just wanna be remembered. When some young dude or young lady is looking for inspiration, I want my music to be the music they choose.
Q: How would you describe your music style?
A: Versatile. I make music based on my current state of mind or mood. I don’t ever wanna be placed in a box or can’t be able to express myself exactly the way I’m feeling.
Q: What type of person do you think would connect with your music?
A: A human (laughs). I mean anyone. Music is universal. So someone in Indonesia or Germany may very well be going through the same thing I am. Feel me?
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: I see myself successfully putting out some really good music. Anything else will be a bonus. Stay tuned….
